TRS has been operating in Canada since 2005. Our Canadian team, led by General Manager Marc Cote, P.Eng., has completed timber restoration and construction projects in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and beyond.

Heritage Walkway Bridge

Client: Municipality of West Grey

A 75.3-metre former Canadian Pacific Railway bridge restored to current codes and heritage requirements, crossing the river above the dam falls. Our EPHOD® diagnostics revealed internal pile decay that changed the engineering specification, preventing an under-specified repair from failing prematurely.

Client: NS Dept. of Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal

A replacement for a 48-year-old failed steel arch bridge in Canada’s highest corrosion exposure zone. The new 39-metre three-pinned glulam timber arch was fabricated in our Jefferson, Oregon facility, shipped to Nova Scotia in 25 loads, and installed using a 500-tonne crane.

EPHOD® diagnostic technology

Our proprietary EPHOD® system detects internal timber decay that visual inspections miss. For aging Canadian bridge and building stock, it has repeatedly caught deterioration that would have caused premature failure or badly under-specified repairs.

Structures for Canadian projects are manufactured in Canada, from advanced fibre-reinforced engineered wood products to pre-machined, pre-assembled bridges and buildings.

Our Canadian work is designed to CSA S6 (the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code) and CSA O86 for wood, within the NBCC, documented for provincial Ministries of Transportation, DFO, and municipal public-works departments, with Indigenous consultation built into the process, particularly in BC. TRS manufactures in Canada at its own ISO 9001-certified facilities in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Hillsborough, New Brunswick (operating since 2015), so Canadian projects are manufactured in Canada.
