An established Australian timber restoration operation
TRS has been operating in Australia since 2005. Our Queensland-based team, led by General Manager Patrick Bigg, a structural bridge and timber engineer, has completed timber restoration and construction projects for councils in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.
Australia’s timber bridge network is one of the most extensive in the world, and a significant proportion of it is approaching or past its designed service life. Timber bridge restoration across Australia
South Arm Bridge
Client: Byron Shire Council
TRS upgraded this 63-metre timber bridge from 10-tonne to 44-tonne traffic loading. Existing timbers were recycled throughout the rehabilitation, treated with Copper Naphthenate Oil Emulsion and Anchorseal® paraffin sealant, with Decaystop® borate salt rods inhibiting fungi growth at treated cuts.
Delegate River Bridge
Client: Snowy Monaro Regional Council
Based on a Level 2 inspection and condition report, TRS constructed a new sill beam foundation, fabricated two new frame bents, completed pile repairs, and replaced six corbels, sixteen girders, and a significant portion of the deck.

Our Australian work is engineered to AS5100 bridge design (with SM1600 loading, or T44 where specified) and AS/NZS 1720 for timber, by RPEQ- and CPEng-qualified engineers, delivered for council procurement and state departments including TMR, DPI, and DAF, with cultural inductions and environmental permitting handled as standard.
