Canada’s built environment has a centuries-long relationship with timber. We honour that tradition with modern engineering, ISO 9001-certified quality management, and proprietary construction technology, building new timber structures designed to stand for 100 years or more.

TRS new builds in Canada are designed to National Building Code of Canada specifications, provincial ministry loading requirements, and CSA timber standards. Our engineering team through Wood Research and Development (WRD) has deep experience with Canadian procurement, from BC Ministry of Forests resource road bridges to Ontario municipal pedestrian infrastructure.

TRS manufactures at its own ISO 9001-certified facilities in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Hillsborough, New Brunswick, operating since 2015. Structures for Canadian projects are manufactured in Canada, from advanced fibre-reinforced engineered wood products to pre-machined, pre-assembled bridges and buildings.

McGillvray Forest Service Road Bridge

Client: BC FLNRORD

A 21.2-metre, L100-rated all-timber glulam bridge on a 20-degree skew with a 5.5-metre deck. Five Douglas Fir glulam girders with aramid fiber reinforcement for shear and bending, designed, fabricated in Jefferson, pre-assembled, and installed by TRS as a demonstration project for BC.

Amherst, Nova Scotia

Roger Bacon Bridge

Client: NS Dept. of Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal

A design/build replacement for a failed 48-year-old steel arch bridge in Canada’s highest corrosion zone. We built a 39-metre three-pinned glulam timber arch, fabricated in Oregon with Canadian technicians, shipped in 25 loads, installed with a 500-tonne crane.

Our Canadian work is designed to CSA S6 (the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code) and CSA O86 for wood, within the NBCC, documented for provincial Ministries of Transportation, DFO, and municipal public-works departments, with Indigenous consultation built into the process, particularly in BC. TRS manufactures in Canada at its own ISO 9001-certified facilities in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Hillsborough, New Brunswick (operating since 2015), so Canadian projects are manufactured in Canada.
